What is counselling?
If you are feeling anxious about a particular problem, or if you are generally feeling miserable or discontented, you may be able to benefit from counselling. By talking through problems or issues it sometimes becomes possible to understand more clearly difficulties which you have been experiencing, and to make choices which can bring about positive change. Counselling is not about practical advice. Instead, it helps you to reflect on your issues and to arrive at your own solutions.

Who is counselling for?
People of any age, class, sexual orientation or religious background can benefit from counselling.

How long would the counselling go on for?
Some people may only wish to come for a few sessions to discuss a specific concern. Other people may wish to undertake this self-exploratory work on a longer term basis. This can be negotiated through the assessment process so that a flexible service which suits the needs of the individual can be offered.
